She knows it’s foolish, but there are times when she can’t help it. She knows if she stops thinking the way she is that she’ll lose everything. Or maybe she already has and just doesn’t want to admit it, either way she’s afraid to let go.
It isn’t as though she doesn’t know how he feels about her. For her, it is impossible not to know, he’s shown her a hundred times in the little ways he tries to be subtle, like hiding smiles when she gives him hers, being the quiet, yet stern voice that defends her when someone says something about her he doesn’t like. She knows why he does it, knows what it’s about, but refuses to tell him so. Why break it to him that he isn’t being subtle? Not subtle at all.
She knows she had the chance before, to tell him how she felt, with her smiling eyes and her angel mouth, but she was the silent one though, as cool as a prize, pretending she knew nothing, kept it hidden behind her eyes. She pretended to be simple, ignorant to what he felt, and swore herself he’d tell her one day, but tell her he didn’t.
She figures she may have lost her chance now, and if she did only she is to blame, but she still hopes he will tell her. And perhaps he will.
