Summary: Vincent never liked to dance...
Vincent never liked to dance. Ever since he was young he thought the idea was ridiculous, so he avoided it at all costs. Even at his friend’s wedding he stood in the corner, watching everyone dance and laugh. They were unsettlingly happy, and for the life of him, he couldn’t really understand why they were so happy, listening to their rock music and have run.
Yuffie laughed at him, jabbing him in the ribs. He had to admit, only to himself, that she looked beautiful in her green dress. It was dark, like pine needles, but something about it was beautiful on her, but he would never tell her that. How could he? He was Vincent after all, and Vincent Valentine never thought anyone was beautiful. “Can’t you smile, Vinnie?”
“Aren’t you happy for them?”
His gaze flickered, very briefly to the bride and groom, laughing and dancing, and nodded slightly. “Yes, I am happy for them.”
“Then why don’t ya smile?”
“I do not smile, Yuffie.”
“Not once? Not even for me?”
“I am afraid not.”
She pouted, folding her arms across her chest and looking out at the dance floor. “Then can ya at least dance with me? One song?”
“I don’t dance, Yuffie.”
“Please, Vinnie.” She turned to him with a pout, folding her hands in front of her. “Please, Vinnie? Just one dance? I promise to leave you alone for the rest of the night if you do.”
He arched an eyebrow at her. “You promise?”
She nodded. “I promise.”
He stopped and considered it for a little while, then nodded, only slightly. “Alright, if you will leave me alone for the rest of the night.”
She smiled, taking his hand and leaning up to kiss his cheek. “Just admit it, Vinnie. Deep down, you’re just a big softie.”
He sighed and let her lead him out onto the dance floor. Somtimes it wasn't worth arguing with her- it just ended up feeling like you were chewing on rocks.
