Summary: He felt the need to take care of her.
She had insisted that is wasn’t necessary for him to take care of her. She was fine, she wasn’t really sick, just a little under the weather, but he knew her and he knew it was just her stubborn nature speaking. She had been running a definite fever and he would be damned if he was going to let her pretend she wasn’t sick.
So he had made her go back to bed and made sure there were enough blankets on her bed, had brought her hot soup and had kept her company, snuggling up against her, let her rest her head against his shoulder as she watched bad TV and sniffled quietly.
“I’m really not sick,” she insisted, dabbing her nose with a tissue.
He kissed her temple with a laugh. “Just get some rest. It will make you feel better.”
“Rude, I’m not-”
“Don’t tell me you aren’t sick when your nose is all stuffed up, sweetheart.”
She pouted, folding her arms across her chest with a sigh. “Why do I have to date such a firm caretaker?”
“Because you love me.”
She sighed. “Yes. Lucky for you.”
He knew she was merely frustrated at being sick. She was a strong willed person and hated to be held down by anything. While she was sick she couldn’t work, and that above all else annoyed her, so he was content to let her complain and pout and cradle her against his side, kissing her temple and loving the beautiful fighter that had captured his heart.
